On June 11, the Feast of Corpus Christi, we participated in a solemn procession. The celebration concluded with lunch in our community hall. Thanks to all who participated and to volunteers who brought food for every one to enjoy.
The Feast of Corpus Christi celebrates the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. The Feast is also our parish feast day. On June 11, many of the parishioners joined our solemn procession. The celebration concluded with lunch in the community hall.
We appreciate the Decorating Crew (headed by Tho and Hoac Pham) for making Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church a glorious place to worship. In this picture (l-r): Gayle Jones, Theresa Quintana, Tho Pham, and Pat Hughes (not in picture: Hoac Pham, Geary Jones, and Adam Rodriguez).
We welcome you to "come and see" and possibly join us on the exciting journey and mission of following the Risen Jesus - His way of living and loving - because His Spirit empowers us to do so.
Pictured here is our Pastor, Fr. Celestine (back to camera) assisted by Deacon Bill Ennis and Sacristan Eduardo Contreras as they wash the feet of one of their parishioners.
Candlemas marks the day when Mary and Joseph brought baby Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem. Jesus is the Light of the World, The candles represent the fact that the light of the world is here; the light is coming into a dark world as the Church calendar progresses towards the brightness of Easter.
Parishioners were treated to a small reception celebrating the return of Fr. Celestine from his month-long vacation. Father is shown here blessing the food with the congregation.
In keeping with Mexican tradition, friends and families got a treat on January 8, the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord. Some parishioners shared rosca de reyes and hot chocolate. It’s a popular way to cap the Christmas season. Religious Education student, Santos Alcantar (above), "found" Baby Jesus in his pastry.
We would like to thank everyone who approached the Christmas Treats Table on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The young ones and the young at heart both enjoyed the goodies, treats and special gifts.
Many thanks to Tho and Hoac Pham who spearheaded the Christmas decorating this year. We also would like to thank the crew for helping out: Adam Rodriguez, Theresa Quintana, Patricia Hughes, Gail and Geary Jones, Adam Pham and Susan Ortwerth.
Each December 12th, the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe is celebrated. This day commemorates the appearance of Mary to the Mexican peasant Juan Diego in 1531. The feast day is an important holiday in Mexico. It has also become an important day for Mexican Americans to celebrate their religious and cultural identity and Sangre de Cristo Church is no exception.
Every first Sunday of each month (except holidays) is Hospitality Sunday. It is a chance to chat with old friends, meet new ones, or catch up on what's new over coffee, donuts, and burritos. We are grateful to our Pastor for bringing back an old tradition to Sangre de Cristo.
We wish to alert our beloved Parishioners that there are fraudulent emails being sent from imposters and thieves posing as Father Celestine or Staff Members, asking for monetary gifts, such as Gift Cards and the like. Please do not respond to these emails and do verify with Father Celestine or any (supposed) Staff Member if any email was truly sent by Father or Staff. We, nor Fr. Celestine, would NEVER request money or Gift Cards via email, or by letter (OR PHONE). Please take caution that this is occurring and alert fellow Parishioners of this unfortunate behavior. We want our Parishioners to be safe. We can pray for the Mercy of the Lord in their conversion.
Parishioners and friends of Sangre de Cristo Church got together for lunch to celebrate Fr. Celestine's 54th birthday on September 23 at a nearby restaurant.
